Claris Health, a community-based agency serving Los Angeles since 1976, announced today the launch of its mobile clinic that offers free pregnancy testing, early prenatal services, STD testing, general health screenings, and social service referrals for hard-to-reach communities. 

This custom mobile clinic will visit 27 sites each month throughout Los Angeles County. These locations are known for limited access to health care. The mobile clinic will be premiered at Claris’ annual fundraising gala on Saturday, Oct.19, 2019, at the Skirball Cultural Center.

Claris Health has been providing on-site services for the past three years in the form of monthly visits by a team of medical professionals. During this time, the need for more comprehensive services for the community became clear. This mobile unit allows Claris to provide even more services to those sections of the city which need them the most.

With this mobile clinic, we can eliminate barriers and go directly to where the need is: to homeless shelters, substance abuse treatment sites, housing projects, food pantries, and more," Talitha Phillips, CEO of Claris Health.

Claris Health’s mission is to equip and care for women and their families before, during, and after pregnancy and sexual health choices. Patients who come to Claris are provided with information regarding pregnancy options and ongoing support through direct services and a network of over 200 committed community partners. Free and low-cost services include medical care, education, support, and community resources. Claris continues to expand its scope of services while implementing innovative, evidence-based programs that respond to overall individual and community health needs.

Shields for Families is the first clinical site the mobile clinic will service this month. Additional community partners for this initiative include Dream Center Los Angeles; Allies for Every Child, St. Margaret’s Center, PATH, YWCA Sexual Assault Services and more.
