| Maintaining its platinum level award since 2013, EDF Nuclear Generation has once again achieved the highest standards in procurement and supply chain management as recognised by CIPS, the global professional body for supply chain management. Commended at platinum level, EDF Nuclear Generation demonstrated how clear supply chain strategies were developed to support the business’ priorities of generate, nuclear decommissioning and business transformation, reinforcing the value of supply chain management. In addition the EDF Nuclear Generation Supply Chain team has been providing goods and services ensuring the company’s pandemic plan is supported so the nuclear power station fleet can operate efficiently and safely whilst in a Covid secure environment for staff and contractors. PEP (Procurement Excellence Award) is a globally-recognised award presented to those organisations demonstrating excellence in their procurement and supply chain activities. The award drives regular improvements, value across supply chains and highlights procurement’s role as a fundamental part of an organisation’s strategy and effectiveness. The EDF nuclear team was reassessed for the award just as the worldwide pandemic hit, showing a commitment to building stronger procurement teams and expanding knowledge and skills in the business. The assessment showed good senior management and cross-functional interaction, and that procurement was an important strategic element in the organisation built on strong relationships with other teams. Mark Barnett, Acting Head of Supply Chain at EDF Generation explained why maintaining platinum standard was so significant: "Engaging with the accreditation programme is a means of demonstrating to others that we operate to high standards and are on a journey of continual improvement.
