Maintaining its platinum level award since 2013, EDF Nuclear Generation has once again achieved the highest standards in procurement and supply chain management as recognised by CIPS, the global professional body for supply chain management. Commended at platinum level, EDF Nuclear Generation demonstrated how clear supply chain strategies were developed to support the business’ priorities of generate, nuclear decommissioning and business transformation, reinforcing the value of supply chain management. In addition the EDF Nuclear Generation Supply Chain team has been providing goods and services ensuring the company’s pandemic plan is supported so the nuclear power station fleet can operate efficiently and safely whilst in a Covid secure environment for staff and contractors. PEP (Procurement Excellence Award) is a globally-recognised award presented to those organisations demonstrating excellence in their procurement and supply chain activities. The award drives regular improvements, value across supply chains and highlights procurement’s role as a fundamental part of an organisation’s strategy and effectiveness. The EDF nuclear team was reassessed for the award just as the worldwide pandemic hit, showing a commitment to building stronger procurement teams and expanding knowledge and skills in the business. The assessment showed good senior management and cross-functional interaction, and that procurement was an important strategic element in the organisation built on strong relationships with other teams. Mark Barnett, Acting Head of Supply Chain at EDF Generation explained why maintaining platinum standard was so significant: "Engaging with the accreditation programme is a means of demonstrating to others that we operate to high standards and are on a journey of continual improvement. This has never been more important as the Supply Chain team supports EDF helping Britain achieve net zero. “To be awarded this top standard is a great achievement in its own right, however to hold it since 2013 is fantastic. It is a testament to the professionalism of the whole supply chain function and the hard work that goes on each and every day." Alan Martin, Head of Procurement Excellence at CIPS said, “The procurement team at EDF had a tough year to audit their processes, policies and people skills during a time where they also had challenges thrown at them by the pandemic. My heartfelt congratulations to them for staying at platinum level and for constantly striving towards improvements. “The team was very clear about adding value to the business they aligned procurement strategy to business goals and maintained strong relations with colleagues and external stakeholders too. Their understanding of the business environment was evident in their submission and in their development of future scenarios leading their organisation into the future with strength and capability.” For more information about CIPS Procurement Excellence Programme: https://www.cips.org/en-gb/cips-for-business/supply-assurance/procurement-excellence-programme/ -ENDS- Press contacts Trudy Salandiak, CIPS Public Relations Manager; T +44 (0)1780 761576; M +44(0)7554400731 Matthew Pardo, EDF External Communications Manager – Generation; T: +44 (0)1452 654545; M: +44 (0)7384 529006 About the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply: The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) is the leading international body representing purchasing and supply management professionals and has over 70,000 members in 150 countries.
