UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / December 19, 2025 / Award-winning Ilford businessman Fareed Nabir has launched a major humanitarian project in Bangladesh: the construction of a purpose-built orphanage for women and girls through his charitable arm, The Nabir Foundation.
The facility, which will be based near his parents’ home village in Sylhet, will provide accommodation, education, healthcare, and vocational training for up to 300 girls. It will also offer employment and purpose to homeless women, giving them a safe environment in which to support and care for the next generation.
The orphanage will feature modern classrooms equipped for computing, science, English, and mathematics, ensuring the girls receive both a strong academic foundation and essential life skills to thrive. The project embodies Fareed Nabir’s lifelong belief that education is the most powerful way to transform communities.
For Nabir, the initiative is deeply personal. Having lost his father at the age of seven and been raised by his mother as a single parent in the UK, he understands the challenges of hardship and the value of opportunity.
“I grew up knowing what it means to struggle, but also how much difference a helping hand can make,” said Fareed Nabir, founder of The Nabir Foundation. “Building this orphanage in Sylhet is not just a matter of putting together bricks and mortar: it’s about dignity, education, and giving every girl the chance to shape her own future.
“These children deserve more than survival; they deserve hope, learning, and a real sense of belonging. We also want to give local women who are currently homeless or in vulnerable situations meaningful roles in the orphanage, so they can rebuild their own lives while caring for others. It’s a cycle of compassion that we hope will ripple far beyond its walls.”
This latest project continues Nabir’s growing track record of philanthropy and community engagement. In addition to running Crown Banqueting Suite - one of Ilford’s leading event venues - he has consistently used his platform to support charitable causes, from cultural fundraisers and education initiatives to community development projects both in the UK and abroad.
Construction of the orphanage is scheduled to begin in 2026, with the first phase focused on developing dormitories and classrooms, followed by the addition of healthcare and training facilities. The Nabir Foundation aims to collaborate with local educators, doctors, and social workers to ensure that the home offers not only shelter, but a genuine path to independence.
“This project is a promise to my late parents and to the community that raised them,” Nabir added. “It’s about turning empathy into action and helping build a generation of confident, educated young women who can lead their own lives and give back to others.”
