Interview Sintef Energy's Nils Røkke on Carbon Capture & Storage

Trondheim CCS Conference (TCCS-10) is a leading scientific conference that will gather more than 400 researchers on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in Trondheim from 17-19 June 2019. The conference will focus on current research on CCS and climate technologies providing solutions for clean energy in our societies.

Nils Røkke, Chairman of the Board of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) and Executive Vice President of Sustainability for SINTEF Energy, one of Europe’s largest independent research organisations is available to speak to the media in the run-up, during and after TCCS. He is available to comment on:

How to quickly implement and scale carbon capture and storage (CCS): Norway’s full-scale CCS project will cost 10% of the national annual gas income and by showing how Norway can put CO2 back where it came from, Norway can change the European mindset about capturing and storing CO2.

How to start the hydrogen economy: Europe must develop a hydrogen market; leaders must discuss how to do this, and new research programs need funding to achieve zero emission hydrogen from natural gas

How to start climate positive initiatives and invest in technologies that remove CO2 from the atmosphere. To achieve the goals committed to in the Paris Agreement, technologies that capture more CO2 than is emitted are necessary. An innovation and research agenda for climate positive technologies is needed quickly.

The conference will host leading CCS experts including Tim Dixon, General Manager, IEAGHG; Mona J. Mølnvik, Research Director, SINTEF Energy Research; Katherine D. Romanak, Research Scientist, University of Texas at Austin; Trude Sundset, CEO, Gassnova; James Dawson, Professor, NTNU; Stephen Bull, Senior Vice President, Equinor among others.
