Local Foodbank Charity Seeks New Temporary Storage and Packing ‘Home’

UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / June 30, 2020 / Reigate-based charity, Loveworks, is appealing for help to find a new temporary home. Circumstances beyond its control have meant that the charity has got until 4th July to relocate to a new space - suitable to store and pack food parcels for the individuals and families living in the RH1 3 and RH2 postcodes who are reliant on foodbanks.

Due to a drastically increased number of referrals during this COVID-19 period, Loveworks has opened its doors six days a week, delivering foodbank parcels every weekday. Currently, Loveworks is based at the Merstham Football Club and the Woodhatch Centre in Reigate; however, with the easing of lockdown restrictions due on 4th July, these vital community venues are once again able to reopen to the public. Alternative accommodation is therefore needed as a matter of urgency. The charity is exceedingly grateful to both venues for their fabulous support over the past few weeks and hope to continue working with both organisations in the future on community-focussed projects.

Millie Gonsalves, Charity Officer says, “We’ve worked hard throughout lockdown to ensure all our beneficiaries have continued to receive essential support but are very conscious that we’ve just been ‘lodging’ at venues kindly provided to us. As demand has increased, our donors have been extremely generous, enabling us to keep the stocks in the foodbank up. Now we want to look ahead and begin to accumulate longer terms supplies but we need space and storage to be able to do this.”

In early 2021 the charity plan to unveil their permanent home which will enable them to induct and train volunteers, manage the operation, store dry and tinned food and pack supplies for the ever-growing foodbanks.

They need YOU! Between July and February 2021 the charity are looking for a space that will allow them to operate in a safe, socially distanced way to enable volunteers to continue to sort, stock check and pack food parcels safely. They have funds set aside and are would be happy to share a venue with a business or other charity that have un-used space. Ideally, the space would be in Reigate or Redhill, have evening and weekend access and parking to unload donations.
