Modified Law on Food Contact Materials for the Netherlands

BAAR, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / December 12, 2025 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 176.25, reporting on the Netherlands’ revision of its Commodities Act on food contact materials (FCMs) and articles.


An amendment was made on November 25 to the Commodities Act (Regulation on Packaging and Consumer Products). This amendment replaces Regulation (EC) 282/2008 with Regulation (EU) 2022/1616 for food contact recycled plastics and updates several specifications for metals and coatings.


The amendment took effect on November 26, 2025, and applies retrospectively as of July 1, 2025.
