UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / November 25, 2019 / A local mother supporting the Anaphylaxis Campaign has rallied together friends and family to help fundraise with Marks & Spencer Camberley, The Meadows, this Saturday (30 November).
Anna Gillard, Employee Relations Manager at M&S, has gathered over 40 volunteers to help pack customers’ groceries in the Food section, in the hope of spreading awareness and raising funds for the local charity, which supports people at risk of severe allergic reactions.
Volunteers will spend the day helping shoppers, whilst spreading the word of the charity and the work it does to support those with life threatening allergies. Shoppers will be given the opportunity to donate to this important cause.
Anna’s inspiration for the event comes from her young daughter’s own experience with anaphylaxis and the support her family has received from the charity.
Anna Gillard said:
“Our daughter Chloe had her first anaphylactic reaction when she was four and, over the years, as we have learnt to manage her allergies, the Anaphylaxis Campaign has been an invaluable source of information and support to us as a family.
“Most recently I rang the charity when I was worried about Chloe’s latest hospital appointment - the helpline team was amazing and gave me good practical advice. Thanks to them, Chloe is now receiving superb care and will be starting immunotherapy in the next two weeks.
“As a family we try and do something every year for charity, so we wanted to give something back. Together with M&S and our volunteers, we hope we’re able to raise further awareness about the charity, as well as fundraise, so it can continue its great work in the community.”

Rachel Cranwell, Store Manager at M&S Camberley added:
“Supporting the local community is so important to us at M&S and we’re really looking forward to welcoming volunteers this Saturday. As an integral member of our team, Anna’s story is close to our hearts, so the entire store wanted to help with this initiative. In addition to raising much-needed funds for this cause, the day will be a brilliant opportunity to shine a light on the vital role the charity plays in supporting local people with severe allergies.”
The fundraising efforts of our volunteers is invaluable as we receive no government funding. We rely heavily on the generosity of supporters to enable us to continue providing vital support across the UK to families affected by severe allergies.
If you’d like to support or find out more, please visit the Food section at M&S Camberley between 9am and 3.30pm and look out for volunteers wearing our bright orange ‘Anaphylaxis Campaign’ T-shirts.

About Us
Anaphylaxis Campaign was formed in 1994 by Honorary Vice-President David Reading after his 17-year-old daughter Sarah sadly passed away following an allergic reaction to peanuts. We are the only UK wide charity operating solely for the growing numbers of people at risk from severe allergic reactions and anaphylaxis.
Anaphylaxis is a severe and often sudden allergic reaction. It can occur when someone with allergies is exposed to something they are allergic to. Reactions usually take place within minutes and rapidly progress but can occur up to 2-3 hours later. It is potentially life-threatening and always requires immediate emergency response.
