Ms. MacKenzie comes to the organization with over 23 years’ experience in the federal public service, most recently as Director General of Strategic Communications for Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada. She has an education in Canadian history and grew up in the Ottawa Valley where she continues to serve on several boards of local cultural and heritage organizations.
“The OMN Board of Directors is excited to welcome Sara to this role,” said Christine McGuire, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Her extensive background in strategic communications, media relations, marketing and digital engagement —combined with her volunteer work and education — will help set the OMN on a renewed path as community museums grapple with the impact of the pandemic, work to engage the public, deliver new programming and reopen safely,” continued Ms. McGuire, who is also the Executive Director of the Diefenbunker: Canada’s Cold War Museum.
