UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / July 24, 2025 / Voda Swim’s Swimsuit Confidence Survey has revealed a sobering truth: more than 95% of women feel insecure at the beach, and one of the biggest reasons for that is swimwear.
The confidence-boosting swimwear designer, which pioneered the original pish-up bikini 17 years ago, carried out the survey to understand more about how women really feel when swimsuit season rolls around, and most importantly, why so many continue to struggle with how they see their body.
The sobering results confirm that body confidence remains a major barrier to summertime joy:
“Summer should be a time for women to embrace the sun, the water, and the freedom that comes with it—feeling amazing in their own skin," says Yulia Drummond, Founder, Designer, and CEO of Voda Swim. “But instead, what should be a season of freedom and fun is turning into a time of anxiety and stress.
“Our research paints a clear picture of generations of women comparing themselves to others, worrying about how they look, and struggling to find swimwear that helps them feel confident in their own bodies. At Voda Swim, that’s exactly what we’re here to change. We want to help women feel confident, beautiful, and proud of their bodies just as they are.”
The survey also revealed just how far women are willing to go to feel more confident in a swimsuit, with a majority admitting to restricting their diet in the lead-up to summer. This highlights the immense pressure many feel to change their bodies before stepping onto the beach or heading down to the pool, and that pressure doesn’t come from nowhere.
Over 70% of respondents said they feel that media representation of women’s bodies are either unrealistic or too limited, contributing to a culture of comparison and making it harder for women to feel good in their own skin, and have the confidence to shine.
But there has been some positive news to come from the survey, too. More than three-quarters of women say they won’t let their body insecurities hold them back from enjoying the beach or poolside, and many recognize that the key to confidence lies not in changing their bodies, but in finding a swimsuit that flatters them properly. For these women, it’s about feeling supported, lifted, seen, and valued, no matter their age, size, or shape. But we want to take that a step further. We want to empower women to feel great just as they are, in their perfectly imperfect body, accepting it fully, and the bust boosting bikini top will be just an extra confidence boost.
