BAAR, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / December 12, 2025 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 178.25, focusing on the EU’s published draft update to the Classification, Labeling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation, which proposes 38 new entries and revises 10.
The CLP Regulation is in place to ensure the classification of risk for hazardous chemicals and to protect human and environmental health.
The World Trade Organization (WTO) announced a draft revision to the CLP, Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, on November 27, 2025. Changes have been proposed for the Table 3 ‘List of harmonized classification and labeling of hazardous substances’ in Part 3 of Annex VI.
Scheduled for adoption in the first quarter of 2026, the drafted revisions state that substances and mixtures must be classified, labeled and packaged accordingly within 18 months of the amendments becoming law.
