GENEVA, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / May 15, 2024 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 063.24 to keep stakeholders informed about per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) restrictions in Minnesota, USA.
The state governor signed HF 2310 (Chapter 60) into law in May 2023. One section of this law prohibits the following 11 categories of products, if these goods contain intentionally added PFAS:
This restriction comes into effect on January 1, 2025.
To help stakeholders comply with these requirements, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has published a guideline that clarifies the ban in relation to certain types of packaging and provides additional guidance on the following eight product categories:
