UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / September 14, 2026 / Learnlife’s Village Hub will begin its third academic year this September, two years after an empty open-plan space was transformed into a learning community for children and young people in the Garraf region.

The Village Hub, located in Sant Pere de Ribes, will welcome returning learners alongside new students who have joined the community over the past year.

The Hub is one of three Learnlife schools in Barcelona, which together support 280 learners aged six to 18. Opened in September 2024, the Village Hub has doubled in size as more families join, now serving a community of over 40 learners.

Learnlife took over the Village Hub space in May 2024. At the time, it was an empty, open-plan site. The team spent the summer transforming it ahead of the arrival of its first learners that September, while deliberately leaving scope for students and families to help shape the environment over time.

Two years later, the Hub includes a rooftop terrace with sports courts, creative studio spaces and dedicated learning areas, giving middle and secondary school learners access to a growing range of activities and experiences.

That physical transformation has been accompanied by the continued development of Learnlife’s educational programme. Studios and passion projects have become an increasingly important part of the learning experience, enabling students to explore their interests, create, work on projects and take greater ownership of how and what they learn.

“The Village Hub has changed enormously since we first walked into that empty space,” explains Alena Widows, Learnlife Village Hub Lead.

“But what makes me proudest isn’t simply how the building looks today. It’s the fact that learners, families and educators have all played a part in shaping it. The Hub has grown because the community has grown with it, and that has had a real impact on the quality and variety of the learning experience.”

For families choosing Learnlife, that different approach to education can be an important part of the decision.

“There hasn't been a single day when my kids didn't want to go to Learnlife,” said Michael, whose family joined in February after moving from Germany and spending five years in search of a school that put their children’s wellbeing first.

The new academic year will also see Joan Urgell Farran join as joint Hub Lead and Studio Expert.

Joan has been part of Learnlife since 2019 and previously developed the Studios programme at its Urban Hub. He has also trained educators in creating studio spaces and developing a maker culture within schools.

Further expertise will come from a new Learning Guide joining from High Tech High, an internationally recognised school known for its project-based learning approach.

Families interested in visiting the Village Hub will also be able to attend open house events on 23 October and 10 November.
