Classic and Collector vehicles go under the hammer at a massive “no reserve everything must go“ auction to be held in London in May

A 1987 Daimler Limousine the “ grey Lady” formerly owned by the CEO of Jaguar, Sir John Egan and a 1972 Jensen Interceptor that was loaned to the TV programme Top Gear, will go under the hammer at COYS Chiswick House Auction on May 18th.

They are part of an amazing single owner European collection of over 200 classic and collector cars that has been brought to market by COYS the International Car Auction Company.

It represents a lifetime achievement, and contains numerous exciting and interesting vehicles, all entirely new to the market.

The collection of low mileage, delivery mileage, and one-owner vehicles – will all be sold at No Reserve.

The collection premièred at COYS Techno Classica auction on Saturday, 13th April, when 24 fine European sports and touring cars were sold for exceptional prices.

The 1987 Daimler limousine had a very luxurious interior fitted for Sir John Eagan. The car was built without a division wall. Equipped almost as a mobile office, it is fitted with occasional seats and is completely upholstered in cloth. As such this car resembles a batch of division-less cars that was ordered by the French distributor Vilaseca one year earlier. Featuring Finished in Regent Grey the car was affectionately known at Browns Lane as ‘the Grey Lady’. With the closure of Browns Lane in 2007, it was gifted to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust. This car features in several magazine articles in the UK and abroad.

The 1972 Jensen Interceptor, has covered just 52,000 miles from new in the hands of six keepers, the third and fourth owners keeping it for some 15 years each. Appearing to be an exceptionally sound and original example with notably good panel gaps, it even retains the original 8-track stereo system with over a dozen cassettes still housed in the centre console.

Recently fitted with a new Holley carburettor, a new battery and four new tyres, the Jensen also benefits from stainless steel exhausts, a high-torque starter motor and air conditioning. It comes with many old MOTs back to 1977 (at 39,674 miles), plenty of bills to show regular routine maintenance and documents showing that it was loaned to the BBC’s Top Gear programme in 1994.

This was due to the high quality of the vehicles and the fact that the gentleman collector was a man of exceptional vision and taste. I look forward to selling the next round of this collection in London shortly.
