Tucson Federal Credit Union Commits $55,793 to Schools, Youth Sports and the Arts in Third-Quarter Community Giving

TUCSON, ARIZ. / AGILITYPR.NEWS / October 22, 2026 / Direct giving to nine organizations joins a $152,000 FHLBank San Francisco grant secured for Compass Affordable Housing and a back-to-school drive for local students

Tucson Federal Credit Union (TFCU) committed $55,793 to nine school, youth and arts organizations in the third quarter of 2026, supporting youth soccer, football, basketball and cheer programs, school facilities, student theater, and youth arts and music across Southern Arizona.

Beyond direct giving, TFCU helped Compass Affordable Housing secure a $152,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco for an employment training program, and brought members and the community together for a back-to-school drive that sent local children into the school year prepared.

“Investing in our kids is one of the most meaningful ways we can invest in the future of our community,” said Matthew Gaspari, President and CEO of Tucson Federal Credit Union. “Sports teach teamwork, discipline, perseverance and leadership, while programs in the arts and schools give kids opportunities to build confidence, discover their talents and feel connected. Whether it’s new uniforms for young soccer players, a stage for student actors or a snack bar back in business at a neighborhood school, TFCU is proud to support the programs that create opportunities for local kids to learn, grow and thrive.”

YOUTH ATHLETICS & FAMILY ACCESS

TFCU's largest third-quarter commitment was $19,133 to the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) for youth soccer uniforms.

TFCU also committed $11,200 to the Southwest Tucson RAMS youth football and cheer program. The partnership covers season field and lighting fees, a new inflatable player-entrance tunnel and general sponsorship of the program, which serves nearly 400 local families.

At Desert View High School, TFCU contributed $4,000 to the basketball program, funding two basketball return machines, one each for the girls' and boys' teams, along with new basketballs and a sponsorship banner.

TFCU also contributed $2,500 to the Jaguar Gridiron Club in support of Desert View's football and cheer programs. The funds will help provide equipment and gear, uniforms, practice needs, team meals, athlete training and travel, reducing the financial burden on families while giving student-athletes what they need to participate safely throughout the season.

School-based athletics received further support through $2,500 to the Sahuarita High School Power Football Booster Club and $1,200 to the Catalina High School Foundation Cheer Team.

SCHOOLS & YOUTH ARTS

TFCU contributed $4,000 to Desert Sky PTO to help refurbish the school's snack bar after water damage.

TFCU also contributed $2,500 to Groundworks Tucson in sponsorship of Camp Groundworks, the nonprofit's youth arts and music program.

The Tucson High School Theatre Club received $8,760 for its production of Little Women. The funds cover licensing rights ($1,860), six professional musicians ($3,600), costumes ($1,800), set materials ($1,000), and playbill, poster and marketing printing ($500).

HOUSING & WORKFORCE READINESS

TFCU helped Compass Affordable Housing secure a $152,000 Access to Housing and Economic Assistance for Development (AHEAD) Program grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco. As an FHLBank San Francisco member institution, TFCU supported the grant application on Compass's behalf.

The grant funds CompassWorks, which connects stable housing with paid housekeeping and custodial training, financial coaching, case management and work experience.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL FREE HAIRCUTS AND SUPPLIES

TFCU members showed they share the credit union’s spirit of giving back. Separate from TFCU’s own community donations, members and community donors raised $1,300 through the credit union’s back-to-school drive. Each branch had a donation box or offered members a way to give, either in cash or directly from their accounts. Those donations provided 50 haircuts and 1,700 school supply items to local students at an event at Tucson Mall that drew hundreds of attendees.

IMPACT FELT AT THE LOCAL LEVEL

Together, TFCU's third-quarter giving reflects the credit union's continued commitment to being beyond involved, not only funding local work but strengthening relationships with the schools, teams and organizations building opportunity across the region. Whether a modest gift to a small initiative or larger support for a bigger program, each donation made a meaningful difference for the people those groups serve. It is this attention to small but important organizations, working directly with TFCU's members and future members, that moves the needle on community impact.
