Two Sussex Charities Receive Share of £6,000 Grant

UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / December 15, 2020 / A youth group and a primary school in Horsham have each received a £3,000 cash grant after winning a local community fund campaign run by Kingsfold based builders’ merchant NYEs Building Supplies.

4TheYouth is a charity set up to run youth projects for young people in the Horsham District and surrounding areas. Throughout the pandemic, it has supported children with socially distanced camps and has provided laptops for those who needed them. The funds will go towards continuing its work.

Dean Sweet from 4TheYouth, said:

“4TheYouth is delighted to receive this £3000 funding from NYEs Building Supplies. The money will help us with our recovery programme supporting young people's emotional wellbeing after all the issues we have faced over the past 10 months. It will really help us to deliver a diverse, engaging and inspired programme of activities and support.”

St Robert Southwell Catholic Primary School, which is located on Lambs Farm Road, educates children from four to 11 years old. It will use the money to remodel its small kitchen facility so the children can cook.

Mrs Ursula Hargrave, Headteacher of St Robert Southwell Catholic Primary School, said:

“St Robert Southwell Catholic Primary School is absolutely delighted to have been chosen to receive £3000 through NYEs Proud to be Local campaign. This funding will help us to develop an additional learning space for our pupils by creating a safe, useable cooking space which is accessible to all and which will enhance learning opportunities for all the children at St Robert’s.

“Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 our fundraising events have been affected, so this £3,000 could not have come at a better time. Our greatest appreciation and thanks goes to NYEs and everyone who voted for us; thank you so much.”

Proud to be Local, which was set up by NYEs Building Supplies in 2018, offers community groups, charities and causes the chance to receive funding.

Rex Nye, who is Managing Director of NYEs Building Supplies, added:

“After an extremely challenging year, we wanted to do something extra special for the charity groups in our local area by giving away a share of £6,000 to two charities instead of our usual £1,000. We had a fantastic response and are delighted to be donating £3,000 each to our very worthy winners, 4TheYouth and St Robert Southwell Catholic Primary School. Congratulations to them both and we hope the money will make a huge difference to supporting them with the important work they are doing.”
