Uncorked & Cultured Honors Juneteenth With Napa Valley Vintners and the Association of African American Vintners

What: Uncorked & Cultured will tap into California's wine country to celebrate Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, to honor the emancipation of the last enslaved American’s in Galveston, Texas. The media company will conduct interviews and film b-roll to produce five new episodes of its Sip Consciously YouTube series. 


With support from the Napa Valley Vintners, Uncorked & Cultured will host a small group of cultural enthusiasts, influencers and oenophiles for its Juneteenth Napa Experience. Celebrating culture and encouraging community, the tour will share the diverse history and talent of the Napa Valley region. During the week leading up to Juneteenth, Uncorked & Cultured and Association of African American Vintners will highlight Black winemakers on its social channels around themes of Celebration, Elevation, and Reconciliation.


The tour will start Wednesday, June 16 with a private wine tasting of John Legend’s LVE wine collection at Raymond Vineyards, followed by a tour of the family operated J.Moss Wines. On Thursday, June 17, Napa Valley Wine Academy will sponsor and host an in-person wine education course, Wine 101 Napa Experience, led by site director Monika Vescovi. The weekend will commence at Longevity Wines during a meet & greet with Phil Long, President of the Association of African-American Vintners. On Juneteenth, the group will enjoy a VIP tasting at Theopolis Vineyards with founder, winemaker, and attorney Theodora "Theo-patra” Lee, J.D. Theodora - graduate of Spelman College and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. During the tasting, guests will take part in the Rise Up! Ancestral Meditation with ‘Rise of the Good Woman’ Author Stacy Lloyd, and Postal Petals’ floral workshop with founder Talia Boone. Napa’s premier Black-owned restaurant, Buster’s Southern BBQ, will host the group as they celebrate “A Taste of Our Roots” and the influence on African-descendant culture on southern cuisine.


The weekend will close with Uncorked and Cultured’s Juneteenth Freedom Brunch at PRESS Restaurant where Vincent Morrow serves as the Wine Director.
