Wilsonart County Durham announce Support for Alzheimer's Society

YEAR OF SUPPORT FOR ALZHEIMER’S SOCIETY STARTS WITH FLASHBACK FRIDAY TO CELEBRATE WILSONART’S 21st ANNIVERSARY

Staff and management dressed up in the clothes they wore 1980’s and 90’s to mark the 21 years of business in the UK and to kick start a year of fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Leading worktop manufacturer Wilsonart UK supports a different charity every year. This year the company will be raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society. The charity was chosen by two of Wilsonart’s longest serving members of staff, John Goldsborough and Kevin Allen.  The company, which has a large manufacturing site in the UK at Shildon, County Durham and is part of the World’s principal worksurface manufacturer, will be running various events to raise money including the annual gruelling charity bike ride, dress down days, cake sales and more.

Caroline Elliott, marketing manager for Wilsonart explains “This is an extraordinary charity that does incredible work with thousands of families across the UK.  We are very proud to be supporting a cause that has touched the lives of so many including some of the staff here at Wilsonart.  The aim is to raise £10,000 over the year.  Dress down Friday was inspired by Alzheimer’s Society’s own Flashback February campaign, and a fun way to start fundraising.”

The Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity and supports help and support to sufferers and their families as well as funding research and helping to create lasting change for those affected by this devastating condition. Currently, around 850,000 people in the UK suffer from dementia – and the forecast is that this will rise to two million by 2051. The Society is committed to spending at least £150 million on research over the next decade.
Donations to the cause will be collected via Wilsonart UK’s Charity Page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/wilsonart2019
